Much more security, simple, and discreet for sliding doors.
The media could not be loaded. Sliding doors have always been an achilles heal (most vulnerable) goto for home break-ins. The problem is all one has to do is giggle the outside handle up and down until the sliding door lock becomes loose, then open it. To stop thieves from opening sliding doors there are a number of tactics like Blockers, but rhey don't always work because they still allow the loosening of the sliders lock and once the lock is loose, the door can be lifted up off the track and pushed in. This simple lock is probably one of the most secure, most desecrate and least expensive. I included two photos and a video to show how it looks installed. We installed it high on the doors locking side so you don't even notice it. Screws that come with it are painted white which is the same color as the hardware as you can see in the pictures. Installed on the sliding doors locking (door opener) side, stops any giggling of the sliding door which stops a thief from opening the sliding door. I remember a scene from the Breaking Bad series or could have been from Better Call Saul, not sure, but some store manager had about five locks on his front door, he comes into his house and finds Nacho Vargas (Michael Mando) sitting in his living room. The manager is besides himself asking Nacho frantically "how did you get in! How did you get in!?!" (Nacho used the sliding door)

Note: Used this for a toy!
I take care of a baby during the day. Her family has this lock on their back door and I doubt it would even keep racoons out if they wanted to come in. We live in the middle of nowhere. But! The baby loves to play with the lock. I stand in front of the door every morning while her parents are leaving out the front door and she is so engrossed she doesn't even care that they are leaving while she tries to master how this mysterious thing works! I ordered a couple and screwed them to a wooden tissue box— throw in some old socks or scraps of fabric and it's a good 40 minutes of quiet while baby is deeply engrossed in "work"

Great little lock.
It could be improved with a better drilling template.

Simple and effective lock for our patio screen door.
The item replaced the original spring-loaded latch that failed after 25 years. This one is strong and sturdy and was approximately the same dimensions as the original latch. I had to make a slight adjustment to the placement of the screw holes but it was simple.

PERFECT TO SECURE A SLIDING GLASS DOOR THAT WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS -- Measure YOUR OWN door first
This was exactly what I needed to secure our Sliding Glass Door, which is installed BACKWARDS with the Sliding Door on the OUTSIDE. These door locks come in several dimensions to fit different size/width of tracks and door heights. You need to measure the width of your track and determine how far up the bottom of the sliding door the pin will go -- you don't want to drill a hole into the glass. These measurements are just to make you you order the door lock that is the right SIZE for your door. Note - they give the exact measurements on the lock in their description. To install this on a BACKWARDs INSTALLED SLIDER, you will need to place this pin on the bottom of the track (INSIDE), turn the knob left as if to OPEN the door (pin retracted as far as it will retract), then mark your drill holes for the bottom track such that you leave about 1/16" opening between the fully retracted pin head and the slider. Mark those holes, then predrill a hole into those slots. If you drill these holes first, (instead of the larger hole in the slider) you can't make a mistake in this placement. Drill the larger hole in the slider AFTER you have predrilled these 2 holes on the bottom track. This is the perfect inexpensive fix to help secure our door so it can't be lifted from the track. We actually installed two.

Made it work
I purchased this to prevent my special needs son from eloping out the back yard and into the street. I had a wedge put in but he figured out how to remove it. So I purchased one of these but it didn't sit flush on any of the sliding glass door parts. So I utilized one of the pre drilled holes at the bottom of the door and put the bolt through it while securing the latch with screws into the wood molding. It felt secure but not enough so I bought another for the other hole in the door and I haven't seen him try to open the door on his own since. I kept the wedge at the top for extra security in case he figures out one and not the other. I like that the bolts twist and makes it hard for him to open.

Perfect replacement from before
This was purchased to replace an existing security lock for the patio door. I was sure if the measurements are still the same from the existing one. That one was on the door since we purchased the home 11 years ago which finally broke when we try to open the door and forgot it was set. The replacement went on perfectly, although I resized the receiving hole because the original was always a little on the tight side and was not fully lined up. This time, I made sure the receiving hole in the door was lined up and it screwed in smooth as butter.

Its okay.
I used this to replace a existing push lock which was damaged. It was attached to the sliding door frame and the bolt inserted into an existing hole. The included screws were too short to secure it well. Also when the screws were tightened, the finish on the screws holes on the until chipped off from the friction. I also wish less range of twisting motion was needed to go from the locked to unlocked position and vice versa.
