Wifi sucks

All the negative 1 star reviews for this app/wifi controller are correct. This App/wifi controller sucks and doesn't work. I set up the wifi no problem but the app wouldn't connect to the fan so I couldn't use it. I finally got the fan deleted but there is ZERO instructions on how to reset the wifi in the controller. I can't add the fan back to the app because it won't broadcast it's own ssid since it's still connected to the wifi. I want to try a different ssid to see if it will connect but don't know who to reset the controller. Google has no answers either. I don't know why Fanimation can't get their app fixed. The Wrap fan is $300+. This is unacceptable.

Old chinese module firmware

Fanimation really needs to get up to speed on their own products. I bought an expensive fan with this module included and could not get the wifi to work. After a lot of struggling they sent me a new one. Same thing Same issue. Their support spent over an hour with me on the phone. The first support person was obviously young and all he wanted to do is get off the phone because he had no clue at all. I wanted to curse him badly because I got hung up on and wasted my time. I called again later during the week and got an older person that was more experienced. But he still did not know hardware. We struggled for over an hour resulting in sending me another wifi module. Got the replacement device and called Amazon support because I had the modern eero. Turns out the firmware is really really old and had to drop the security settings almost to nothing to be able to get the wifi to be configured. I enabled legacy mode and it finally worked. Once added, the app prompted for a firmware update. Surprise! They really need to send out those modules already updated with their latest firmware. Old Chinese garbage hardware. To save a buck they get inferior Chinese made hardware. I mean for crying out loud I paid almost 1k for the stupid fan, the least Fanimation can do is provide a superior product because I am paying top dollar for a smart fan. Hope this saves others time from these struggles. It now works well and Alexa also works well with it.

The app for this still needs A LOT of work...

Update: Now June of 2021 and there have been ZERO improvements or bug fixes. I REALLY wish I could return this thing. I bought this item but not from Amazon. I love the fan designs this company offers. But the WIFI portion of it just isn't there. It has a number of problems. When you first launch the app you have no idea if it is actually connected to the fan or not. As you try and make changes to the settings you get notifications that is isn't 'connected'. so you wait,,, ,and wait,,, and wait,,, and if you are lucky it finally connects after about 45 seconds. But some nights it doesn't connect at all. Then there is a 'schedule' feature that lets you program in on/off times. HOWEVER, it does not offer times based on sunrise or sunset. And also there is the ability to set the light brightness from 1-100%. However when adding a schedule it will always turn the light on to 20% no matter what I ask for. Finally, it says it is compatible with SMARTTINGS but it isn't. it is only partially compatible. It works with smart things devices thru the IFTTT app. So you can set it to turn on the fan when a door opens. But the actual fan and light do not actually appear as an available device in the SmartThings app. This was a HUGH disappointment to me. It was also one of the main reasons I bought this not-so-smart fan. Another thing it doesn't work with Apple Home kit.
