Heavily built.
Haven’t actually used it, but it seems like it’s work nicely. It’s heavily made and it all went together perfectly.

Good Spreader, Time Consuming To Put Together.
I live in North Florida and own a lawn maintenance business. I ordered this spreader for "Weed and Feed" and "Fertilizers". Upon arrival it comes in a large box and you have to put it together. I'm well mechanically inclined and it still took me approximately 30 minutes to get it together. Directions are So-So and there's not a lot of illustrations that's precise. Once together it pushed and rolled very smooth with the large tires. The hopper is very sufficient for a 100lbs and still very controllable when pushing. It's throws roughly 15ft to my best estimate and seens to do a good job. I really like that all the metal pieces and most of the screw are stainless. Foot Note: Once you get out together, check and tighten ALL your bolts/nuts, even the ones that hold the hopper to the frame (which comes already bolted), I had two nuts work loose and fall off from the right side of the hopper. Had to go buy two more nuts and finding stainless steel nuts are harder than you think....lol Overall I worked would recommend this spreader and I would purchase this one over the other name brands (Lesco, Agri-Fab and so on).

The huge opening let’s the salt fall right out .
We push snow for Fedex and when we salt we put down about 13000# and of that about 1700# via walk behind spreader . We have tried many which most hold up about 2 seasons. This is the only one wit a large opening to let the salt out . Every other one we have used you have to hit it rock it bounce it to get salt out . We use balk salt so it’s wet not dry and fluffy and with this opening it works 100% better then anything out there . You still have to bounce it a little to get salt out . It puts out way more to the point it will easily salt half way under a simi trailer on each side with maximum amount of salt. The only reason for a 4 star is I bought a plastic one which wet salt still sticks to , will replace withe the stainless steel version which I believe will solve the sticking problem. Didn’t want to spend the money on that one and it didn’t work so bought the cheaper one 1st. Even with the 4 star reviews I was skeptical bc the salty dog had great reviews and it’s junk, granted we are commercial and use the heck out of it . So if your wanting a amazing spreader look no more , if like us spend the money on the stainless steel hooper version.

It's very heavy duty
The spreader is very heavy. Throws rock salt well. My only complaint is the delivery. It came through the postal service. I would have preferred Fedex or UPS to drop it off at my house. Since the box was way to heavy and big for a mail carrier to bring it to us, we had to go to our post office and pick it up.

Awesome for throwing rock salt!
The best Rock salt spreader ever used. We have used a few and never worked. This one is exactly what you need for Rock salt.

Missing the most important part.
I just got this delivered a few hours ago. Went to put it together and missing the most important part the gearbox assembly. Has a inspection stamp with a signature on it. Hopefully customer service will be easy to deal with tomorrow. I need this for the weekend

This will spread, peat moss and compost, as well as salt, seed, and fertilizer
The media could not be loaded. This is a great spreader. I live in south FL, so I have zero need to spread salt. But that’s not all this guy does. It has a huge hopper, and a massive guillotine style chute opening. So it’ll let you spread compost and peat moss. Our south FL soil is just sand. So these organic amendments build up the soil and help with moisture retention. Even northerners can benefit from this. But it’s critical in Florida. The fact that this spreader does this so quickly and easily, means you can amend the soil on a monthly basis. This spreads the cost over time, and allows it to work into the lawn a little at a time. That’s generally the best strategy. My grandfather used to say the best tool is one you’ll use. The ease and effectiveness of this spreader, ensures I’ll happily pull it out and put it to work. Why 4 stars? No, not the assembly, but that does take an hour. You’ll need a number 10, and a number 8 socket, and the same size box end wrenches. Also a cordless impact driver will make quick work of all the nits, except the one that locks the wheel to the axle. You’ll need a ratchet for that guy. I took one star off, because, while this unit is pretty tight and Ridgid, there is a little shimmy, when you shake it to move the peat moss down the chute. Now this is being pretty picky. It’s a use outside the prescribed recommendation. But this is a costly tool, so I graded it on a higher scale. I’m not in any way concerned about the shimmy. It only under moderately heavy use, and the heavy grade materials can easily be retightened if it loosens. I really like the spread control flaps on each side. It allows you to spread material where you want it, and not where you don’t. I had very little blowing to do after spreading the peat. That was likely related to a light breeze, and being aggressively close to walks and the driveway. Most seed spreaders only allow control on one side. So that makes for more steps, to have the spread control on the side you need it, which may be the opposite direction you’re headed. So you’ll have to walk to the other end to start. I have spread some bermuda seed with this as well. The chute mouth is not as tight as I would like it, so some of the small bermuda see did escape past. I’ll have to look into modifying this in the future. But it gave me a beautiful 10 foot even spread of seed. I was able to do 3000 sq feet in a few minutes. It would have taken an hour with my old, cheap, Scott’s spreader. I think my video tells the rest of the story. So enjoy!!

Hopper discharge port is poorly positioned.
The hopper discharge port is placed along a sloped surface of the hopper and fails to extend into the lowest surface are of the hopper, This makes it very difficult to completely discharge the last remaining fertilizer, about a gallon, from the hopper. The discharge port should be positioned along the lowest surface of the hopper.
