Amazon is great and this product is too

I have this product even though I can’t use it. This is a 5 way tester and I have a 4 way plug for my hitch. But the materials used for it are great and rugged which is why I am writing this review. I tried returning this product and Amazon just refunded me it without the need to return it because it would probably cost them more to ship than just refund me the amount of $ I spent in the first place. I hate the fact that I can’t return the item because feels like I am cheating the system and stealing, but I guess I have no choice. Love buying at Amazon because of the customer service and support!

I use this for a 4 pin flat plug and it fits fine.

Convenient tool to have. I had the dealership install a tow bar and plug as part of my purchase on a used vehicle. On the first try the lights didn't work when I went to hook it up to my trailer. I purchased this to bring back with me the second time to make sure the lights worked BEFORE I left. Of course they didn't, I showed the tech and he brought it back to the back with him and didn't bring my jeep back until they worked. FYI, Jeep Grand Cherokee's (WK2's) need to have the dealership put a "Sales Code" in your computer to activate the trailer lights. I use this for a 4 pin flat plug and it fits fine.

Like it, even though it's not exactly what I expected

This is a nice, decently-made product that works well. But take note, it's a *5-pin* connector (4 plus ground), not a 4-pin like many small trailers use. So with my trailer, I can't use it inline because while it can plug into the car's connector (with a pin hanging out), the trailer connector won't plug into it. That said, I still find it useful because it'll show you whether power is coming from the pins on the car connector which is still helpful in troubleshooting.

Good tight fit trailer harness tester

I used this product to help me wire in a trailer tow hitch on a 2016 Yamaha V Star 1300 Tourer I recently installed a hitch on. The wiring its the most terrifying part of the job since I had to tie into a working existing harness without doing damage, and get the correct wires. This tool helped me do that.

Cheap and works great.

It does exactly what you expect it to do which is light with the respective lights when they should turn on. I got it to make sure I hooked up the wiring harness to my car correctly and due to the fact that my harness had like a 4 foot long cord I was able to test to make sure it was installed correctly by myself before I went rented a uHaul trailer. It is cheap and good device to have around for the next time I want to tow. I can make sure everything is still working eliminating the possibility that it is my car that is broken.

I'm glad I bought it. Buy it, its worth it.

It works perfectly as described. I would happily buy it again. I do trailer repair, and its nice knowing positively if light malfunctions are on the vehicle side or the trailer side. Lights are easy to see even in daylight. They are a little bright at night, but maybe someone is trying to give me hint its time to stop work when it gets dark and go make my honey happy. This tester might not make your honey happy, but it will make you happy you bought it. Nice quality, plugs in snuggly without being too tight, but never too loose.

Was hoping for internal battery (ie continuity tester) - this isn't one.

Wanted something to test trailers w/o needing vehicle (ie battery) nearby. This is not that device. You can make due with a small 12v battery alligator clipped to the vehicle side of this, but was really hoping for an internal watch battery or something. Not the device's fault at all; all mine. Device works fine for its intended purposes and I'll keep it for future use.

A must if you own a trailer!!

This product is very good, if you have a trailer light problem, this device helps you debug the problem without any doubts. Plug it in; if the light is on, the car module is good, the trailer is bad. It saved me an appointment at the dealer :) It paid for itself :))
