The best shorts ever made in history and the future of every universe.
While I feel like a suburban grandfather who discovered that Wilson tennis shoes are the greatest thing ever and purchased 100 pairs in the 90's before they could go out of business, these really are the equivalent in the form of shorts. Perfect fit: I am a short dude—5'6" and it is really hard to find shorts that don't make me look like a bro about to sip some Monster energy drink. Not only that—but if you find the right length short it is often times too tight on the thighs. With that being said—these fit perfectly, but that's just about 1/10th of the awesomeness. Look: They look like typical workout shorts or swim trunks, but no logos no annoying branded things except for in the back on the belt loop. They have awesome pockets: that can fit a lot. Which is kind of silly because you don't need a whole lot to fit in most cases—but when I co hiking / climbing, they are perfect to hold small things without having to take off my backpack. Also have some straps and belt loop holes—I often will loop the waist strap of my backpack to keep things from moving. Sunproof: don't need to say more, I have tested this on many 10+hr hikes, it is true. Quick drying: these dry faster than any of my swim trunks. Never smell: After wearing for a week of long hikes and various activities, no smell—no problem. Since they keep going out of stock, I will continue to purchase my size every time I can and stock up on them, never need to buy any other athletic shorts / swim trunks / casual shorts again.

Good walking shorts
I know these are part of Columbia's fishing wear line, but they are great walking shorts. I walk about 10 miles a day and wanted a pair of lightweight shorts in a quick-dry technical fabric that weren't too long, so I got these in the 6-inch version. (Long 9 or 10-inch shorts are really uncomfortable when you walk long distances.) Most of the time, I am more comfortable in cotton canvas shorts, but those get wet with sweat on my walks and take a long time to dry. These are just what I was looking for. They are light and comfortable and they don't restrict the movement of my legs. I love the phone pocket on the right that is exactly the right size for my iPhone. Putting the phone in a regular front pocket leaves it banging against my leg, but this pocket is perfectly situated to hold the phone snugly, and higher against my hip, without interfering with my movement. The fabric is a pretty standard nylon-ish feel -- nothing special there -- but it does what I want in drying quickly. If I walk in some light rain, they are often dry again by the end of my walk. They also dry quickly when they get damp from sweat. Overall, I am very pleased with these shorts. I still prefer cotton canvas shorts for general everyday wear, but these are perfect for my workouts.

Finally... Short Guy Shorts! (6' Inseam)
First, I'm built more like Fred Flintstone than a basketball player. If you are like me and hate shorts that go below your knees, then you will love these. I'm 5'10" 220 lbs and love the squat rack. I bought the 6" inseam version and absolutely love them. The material is super light, but nice enough looking that I can wear hiking or to a picnic. Plenty of pockets as well. I normally where 34 waist, but purchased 36 and was happy I did. A 38 probably would not have hurt either. The 36 is slim fitting on me, but I don't like baggy, so no complaints. I can not imagine a better hiking short! I would buy a waist size above your normal(Fit Small) shorts as they do not have a lot of give and will not expand with wear like cotton shorts. If you are 6' plus, then I would go with the 10" inseam or they will look like rugby shots on you. The picture on amazon is the 6" inseam and judging from how these look on me I would estimate the model is around 6'1. Last, as the material is not heavy duty, you may want to buy an extra pair if you are an outdoors lover. The wear and tear of fishing, hiking, camping... will likely wear them out. These are not heavy duty, but that is not why I bought them. Best short I have worn in years. I am buying a pair in every color!!

Lightweight travel shorts - comfort with out sloppiness.
These are good casual shorts that are on the fence between pure technical/sport shorts (because they are made from a light weight and quick dry fabric that feels more like the outside of a ski-jacket than cotton or microfiber), but at least in black, don't look too out of place (or absurdly tacticool) on Main street. The cargo pockets, while useful, accessible and velcro sealed) are relatively trim, the main slash pockets will keep a cell phone reasonably secure. The length is great - not Euro short, but still well above the knee, allowing full range of movement - yet relaxed professional vs beach bum. (There is a reasonably small (1 inches) appliquéd logo) While marketed as fishing shorts, they really wouldn't be great for swimming or repeated full immersion sports as the pockets have no drainage holes or mesh venting to let water escape. While one could workout in these, probably not optimum (fabric a little too hard, legs a little too tightly fitting). That being said, this will probably be my go-to "just in case" set of shorts I pack on a business trip to warmer destinations for downtime lounging: easy pack, minimal wrinkle, and non-garish tourist profile.

The Perfect Short
I bought a pair of the Original Permit shorts about 3 years ago. They have easily been my favorite pair of shorts. I did not know what they were called and searched for them until I found these, the updated version. The only difference are the vents in the pockets and the loop on the right hip. So essentially not much different. They are wicking but not too much like a bathing suit, and the elastic in the back makes them super comfortable. The pockets are not too busy like most fishing shorts, so you can still wear them in public. I will wear these around the house on a lazy day, outside while doing yard work, at music festivals, or when I take my kayaks out. I do not exaggerate when I say these are the perfect versatile short. 10/10. I will be buying a few more pairs.

Mido 1.73 m. Además que Columbia no sabe fallar. Se ven mejor que en las fotos.

Love them!! Size beware.
I’m normally a 32” waist so I ordered a 32... they fit, but were a bit tight and they don’t stretch very much. I kept them because I’m losing weight but I ordered another pair a 34” waist, they fit like a dream. The material is lightweight and comfortable and love the 6” inseam as I’m 5’7 and goes above my knee. I can see them being my new favourite shorts and I highly recommend them.

Excelente tamaño y calidad!
Queda perfecto!
