Update March 7, 2019: I've worn the belt about once a week (perhaps a bit less) and it has held up very well. Original Post My initial impressions are this is a vice belt that is a good value (I just received it). First, I measured the belt width and it is exactly 40mm, as claimed in the description. Second, I started poking and probing the interior (non-showing) end with a knife. As far as I could determine, it is a solid piece of leather and not some type of 'bonded leather' (which means some weird combo of leather and plastic). I specifically checked this because of a recent bad experience with a bonded leather belt that peeled. My initial plan was to use this as a work belt. And so I don't drive you as crazy as some of the other reviewers (well intentioned, I'm sure) drove me, I'll tell you that my 'work' is an office environment. I wear dress slacks (Brooks Brothers Model 1818 slacks) and a button down shirt. Basically, suit pants without the suit jacket and tie. This belt might be a bit too casual for a suit in a formal environment, but I thought it looked appropriate enough for (formal-ish) business casual. Visually, I think it would have been fine. However, the width of the belt was a bit too wide for my dress pants. It just fit through the loops without really any spare room. So, it didn't work for me as intended. I did not take any stars away from my review for this, since the width of the belt was exactly as described. I'm now using this belt for my jeans (Levi 501s). I checked the belt-loop fittings and it fits with the appropriate amount of wiggle room. This belt is a very good style match for jeans. It looks good enough that it would look good for a higher style level than jeans, but I can't tell you if it would fit in the belt loops of pants in between jeans and suit pants (or Brooks Brothers 1818 slacks) since I don't own any pants in between jeans and dress slacks (I'm not a khakis guy). The buckle is simple and understated, which I like. The quality looks and feels good. There are 5 holes in the belt. I wear pants with a waist measurement between a 31" and 33" and the hole that the belt uses is the one that is one skinnier than the middle one. So, I would say that the sizing is pretty good to maybe a bit tighter than expected (which worked out fine for me). Given the price and quality, I would say this belt is an excellent value. I'd love to find a similarly good value in a smaller (less width) dress belt, but I cannot fault the belt for not being what I wanted. It was just as advertised and is very nice. I'll try to remember to update this review after I've used it for 6 months or so. If it holds up well, it will have earned all 5 stars.

Funky smell

Love the belt but when I opened it and hung it up in my closet I noticed a funky smell (like dog poop). I checked all my shoes and they were clean. Finally got to the source and it was the belt. Not sure what that’s all about but I had to throw it away

Great Belt - Totally Beats my Louis Vuitton Belt My Dog Chewed Apart for $800

I was crushed when our new puppy ate my expensive belt. I needed one ASAP, and rushed to Amazon to get one fast. Not only did this belt come fast, but it beat my expectations and is UBER comfortable and pretty darn fashionable. Saved me a pile of money, thanks Timberland.

Thin material

Disappointed,I chose the belt for its looks and width, But the belt material itself is very thin, my thinnest (material) belt I own, will see if it holds up, not the hefty belt I thought it would be.

excellent everyday belt

Finding a belt shouldn't be so difficult but I've been unable to find a decent non-dress belt for the last few years. They're either too thin, fake leather or have weird adjustable buckles that fail under load. This one is excellent. I'll add an extra to the shopping cart for when this one wears out (I'm hard on things:).
