Like most General Tools well made and well priced.
I am a big fan of General Tools in general (no pun intended) They are simple just work and at a good price. I bought these after a machinist friend of mine recommended them to me after having used his for 20+years. The design seems to be the same and the ones I got I am pleased with. After having used a harbor frieght tap set for many years , while the taps have been fine the holders are a let down . The holders are sturdy and well made. I did not get the ratcheting version because I like to tap slowly and reverse frequently and get feedback while tapping. I got tap holding sockets for limited access tapping applications.

Look professional
Nice and tough, but not ratcheting, which is a shame

Great wrench for small taps
My regular tap wrench just didn't tighten down enough to grab small taps, e.g., 2-56, 3mm, etc. This one is perfect - well made, nicely finished, it just works beautifully. I'm very pleased with it.

A Class by itself.
I took a chance and purchased one of the cheap ratcheting handles and got about what I paid for. Poor design, cheap construction, intermittent operation, and crooked. This one cost more, but well worth it for a quality product that should last for many years. Can't say how much I wish I had bought it to start with. I did not see any burrs, trash, or poor quality at all. Other reviews must have been for counterfeit products.

A+ Product!
As a machinist, I am constantly tapping holes. These are manual type tap holders (as opposed to ratchet type-that break btw) and are VERY well made and sturdy for a long useful lifespan

A shadow of what General Tool used to be
I'm giving these things three stars because of the low cost and the fact that they work (after a little cleanup), but if you want a honest opinion from a prior service USAF machinist, read on. I have several USA-made General Tool ratcheting tap handles that are probably 50 years old in my home shop, and they still work flawlessly. I bought this set of non-ratcheting tap handles for my work toolbox because the price was right, but immediately upon opening the package I was greeted with the typical smell of Chinese/Indian/Pakistani-made metal parts packed in cosmoline for long distance shipping/long term storage. I checked both tools for any signs of "Made in USA", and of course found no such markings. I took apart both handles to clean the packing grease and gunk out of them, and found what you'd expect from any offshore tool - rust, jagged and poorly formed threads cut way too deep for their intended thread pitch (peaks are way too narrow, hence the jagged apex), and burrs at the edge of every machined surface (no doubt a result of the poor soul running the milling machine 16 hours a day for pennies, with dull tooling and next to zero QC). Two things that surprised me were a HUGE chunk of steel left behind in the main bore where the jaws ride, and some pretty gnarly marks on the end of the handle on the larger tool - marks that occurred during manufacturing, made apparent by the fact that they attempted to polish the marks out rather than tossing it in the defect pile. Does any of this affect the overall function of the tools? Not really. A little file work and some polishing on the threads and I have what seem like serviceable tools. For $30 these are acceptable as throw-aways that won't cause me too much heartburn if they break or get stolen. However, if you want USA-made quality, spend the extra coin and buy Starrett. There is a reason it's more expensive.

Worth the $$
If you've ever tried to use some of the cheapo tap wrenches you can find here on Amazon these will be a breath of fresh air. They work wonderfully, they (mostly) hold the tap very well and they do a great job. Just finished tapping over 50 holes with these and it was a joy to use them. They are real metal, machined to great tolerances and no crappy plastic parts. Well packaged and I expect they will last a lifetime (or longer). Highly recommend.

It's a good product.
The tap wrenches are great. They work well. I give 3 stars for two reasons. The box/case is useless. The foam is not cut to properly hold the wrenches. As soon as you lift the box, they fall inside the box. So the box should always remain horizontal and on the same side. They should remove the box and ship it in a recyclable bag instead and save everyone a few dollars. Also, one of the wrenches had machining dirt on the threads and I couldn't get it open. After cleaning it, it went smoothly. Quality control of this product just doesn't seem to be adequate.

Works fine so far.
Seems well made and both feel quite substantial. I’ve used both now with good success. Could be a little smoother in how the jaws open up to accept a tap, but a substantial improvement over the cheap ones that came with my tap set.

Garbage, waste of time and money
The jaws are rounded off and broken after only a couple of uses. Total piece of junk. Do not waste your time and money on this.

Not really impressed
Not really impressed by this tool. Clearly wont sustain everyday work, it's ok i guess for light work from time to time. Once inserted the tap are not well aligned and the stability is average. So be warned. We use the Klein tap driver at work and it's a beast. I was looking for a cheaper alternative for my portable tool bag. Not really impressed...
