Great tool kit.
I perform engine valve lash adjustments on diesel engines. And this set is perfect for the job that I do.

A tool you'll be glad is there.
I don't always use this set but I always keep it with me just in case. It got me out of a few tight spots or has made a job a lot faster. Super glad I got these.

Not The Best Gear Wrench Makes
It does pretty well but not an expansive set. You will probably find it most useful on shocks or struts that are trunk mounted, so if there is a special on them I recommend picking them up. Not an everyday use tool for me but great to have when you need it.

Very nice set. Great for valve adjustments.
I'm a diesel tech and I got this pass-through set for doing valve adjustments and it works great. You can slip an allen wrench right through to the adjustment screw and tighten up the locknut with the ratchet. Very pleased with it. I only wish there were a better way to store the pass-through sockets, because I like socket trays and hate cases. But that's just a personal preference and no fault of the product. The case is actually pretty decent quality.

Good to have when that time comes you need it.
Not something I will use alot but it has it uses once and a while. Good quality. Would be better if it was deep sockets. The extensions work but the design makes it wider that's why deep sockets would be better

great specialty tool
I will start off by saying what i dislike the most about this set, nothing is interchangeable in any way with any other tool brand, as opposed to harbor freights Pittsburgh brand pass threw sockets that can fit into any standard 3/4" spline drive. Then next thing i like the least , is that the gear wrench sockets, and extensions do not lock into the ratchet, and dont fit all that tightly. I have read that some say they fit very tight, and are hard to get out, i would actually rather that be the case, in my set i feel like they could too easily fall out when i don't want them too. Leaving me looking for a lost socket some where in my engine compartment. I used them to replace all the components of the cooling system of my truck, and during that process, i noticed that there were many instances when i was working with bolts that were already loose that there was no ratcheting action at all because the bolt does not have enough resistance. This is normal for all ratchets , however on these there is little on the back or even on the socket to hold on to to help them out. All this being said, they ate very nice tools, the fit into tight places like no others will, there is no need to worry if the socket is deep enough, and they have a very short click, less then 5 degree. Also i found that the variable angle adjustment super handy, and i love that it locks into place! They also seem to grip the bolt or nut head tighter then my craftsman set, and i think they would work better on slightly damaged or frozen bolts, with less chance of rounding off the bolt head. So all in all, i would say they are an amazing supplement to your standard traditional sockets, but they might not be a good choice as a replacement only, you may need to have both in many cases to get the job done properly.

What is there is GOOD; Needs a touch more
I have thought of this system for many years. I am senior with MANY tools. Tough to justify more, but I kept running into difficult situations, so__. Bought the 1/4 and the 3/ 8 sets. I said a mental thank you quite few times using them. They made difficult much easier. I would give them 5*'s except for two and another aspects. Where as GearWrench provides an adapter to go from 'pass-thru' male to 1/4 & 3/8 square male drive respectively; none is provided to go from 1/4 & 3/8 square female drive to the pass-thru male drive of the extensions or sockets, therefore a torque wrench, or air or electric ratchet cannot be used. Manual ratcheting only. I have GearWrench's tap and die driver set which has a 3/8" female square drive to the pass-thru 3/8" Female, GearWrench # 82804, _so I used that for the 3/8 conversion. And have ordered a 1/4 drive - 7/16 12 point socket which I will remove every other tooth of and think I can make it will work as a 1/4 square male to 1/4 pass-thru adapter. Also, and this is true of most sets irrespective of pass-thru, I many times wish for multiple lengths of very short extensions; 1.0", 1.5", 2" . I have a couple of 1/2" extensions , one of 1.0" the other ~ 1.25" 0r 1.5". No clue of brand but oh so glad I have them when needed. I like the sets and recommend them. If I weren't so demanding, they'd get 5*s. Great for tight quarters. Good snug GearWrench "surface-drive" socket fits.

Absolutely fantastic for places that a wrench won’t work and a ratchet won’t fit.
These pass-through sockets are extremely shallow yet very strong. The craftsmanship and quality of this set fits my needs perfectly. These are great for getting into very tight spaces such as replacing water pumps on front wheel drive vehicles, and any other extremely confined spaces.

Good tools, crummy case
I can't say anything about durability yet, but it's made itself useful immediately. I wasn't expecting to use the pass-through feature very often, but it and the flex head came in handy the first time I used it. Marks off for chrome flecks in the case and overall case quality -- sockets are loose and I expect the plastic snap closure to break off. Made in China, which is disappointing since they used to be made in Taiwan, but initial quality seems quite good. My dial caliper tells me that the sockets I sampled are either the indicated size or <1/64" larger. All comments also apply to the 1/4" pass-through/flex head set.

Sizes are very hard to read, not like shown in pictures
Overall I'm happy with this set, lighter than I expected which is a nice surprise. My biggest issue is the sizing is hard to read, very lightly stamped and smaller than shown in the pics, I've never had sockets where that was a problem before. Quality seems just ok, the angle lock on the head has tons of play and feels cheap, what I thought would be a solid rubber insert in the handle feels like a hollow plastic shell. At 40% off I think the quality is reasonable, at full price I'd be disappointed, but of course time will tell how well they hold up. Wish they made socket holders available for these as they will end up in my toolbox without the case.

Size matters, read bellow
I bought it to make changing shock absorbers/springs easier for the top nut on front shocks, it fits well to get in the hole but i cant fit another socket through like intended to counter turn the shocks cylinder thing, i dont remember the name But it works great for sway bar links that had the allen key hole with a socket around it, maybe i need to buy a bugger size? I have to look around some more i guess I ended up having to use the vise grip method to do the shocks job in the end

Always a great value
Professional tech, always enjoy the mid range price and quality of these tools. As long as the price doesn’t go up for arbitrary reasons I’d recommend all levels of techs to buy a few GW products

also works as a low profile socket set
good for hard to reach or tight spaces, changing serpentine belt on my vehicle was next to impossible to move belt tensioner with wrench or standard size ratchet and socket because of location behind engine mount. this low profile, pass threw socket set worked well.
