Best teen costume!

Fit and style perfect for stylish teen. Not completely appropriate for school as skirt is a little on the shorter side. Definitely a hit!! Would purchase again!

Is that costume tailored?

Overall, this is a super cute costume. I wore it to a Halloween party and someone told me "Wow, that costume fits you really well! Is it tailored?" I gave it 4 stars because it's adorable and really well made (for a costume, especially at this price point) but required some fiddling to really look awesome. I'm 5'4", 130 lbs, definitely not a teen. The 7-9 fit me really well, except that the faux vest was oversized, and the arms of the jacket are on the narrow side. I chose to fix that by making the faux vest a real vest, but it would also have worked to either move the buttons on the vest over or just pin the vest shut. I just dealt with the arms. I couldn't scrunch up the arms like in the model picture because they were too narrow.) One thing I'm surprised none of the other reviews mentioned is that this costume is also really warm due to that polyester velvet the jacket is made of. If you're wearing the costume indoors, you're probably going to get warm enough to want to open/take off the jacket, so a tank top underneath is helpful. Also, the jacket has elastic in the back so it maintains a nice "fitted" look at a variety of sizes. The included hat arrived a little bit squished. I soaked the hat in water and then let it dry on a cup overnight (for shaping) and it now looks perfect! It has two little loops under the brim that can be used in conjunction with a headband (not provided) or bobby pins, etc. to attach to your head. The 10/31 tag is just cardboard and doesn't attach to the hat. I stuck mine in the hat band and had no problems with it; might have been different if I was walking around outside. The skirt is short, but not indecently so for my height. A taller person might find the skirt to be too short. The material is a stretchy knit, so it's pretty forgiving on waist size, and the skirt flares out a lot (despite being so short), so its also pretty forgiving on hip size. Although larger hips will make the skirt appear shorter vs someone with the same waist size and smaller hips. That may also account for some of the differing opinions on whether the skirt is too short or not.) I found the glovelettes to be completely useless (too big) so I didn't wear them. The spat shoe covers were a little tight and didn't work over my low calf boots, only ankle booties and pumps. There's no elastic or anything to keep the spats in place underneath your shoe. I wore this with a tank top, tights, and spandex-type shorts underneath for decency.

Exactly what I was looking for

I was looking for a girly mad hatter costume with a dash of awesome without being either the Disney animated version or the Johnny Depp version. I also didn't want to be a "sexy" mad hatter, so I was looking for something less showy. That being said, the picture of the costume, while being accurate in its appearance, it is difficult to tell what it is made out of. So... lets start with the hat. The hat is made of a short fuzzy material, like cheap velvet. The material itself which is also used on the jacket and spats looks good, surprisingly good. The hat unfortunately is packaged flattened, and when I popped it out the material was wrinkled, really wrinkled. I blame the foamy inside that makes the hat stand up. I don't think I can iron it, but I am thinking about stuffing it with paper to straighten it out. The Jacket and the blue green vest are a one piece. They button separately. The vest is a pretty bright blue polyester with swirls printed on the fabric in lime green. The yellow necktie is also polyester and I was surprised at how bright it is. There are green teapots and teacups printed on the necktie. Even though the colors are brighter than I had expected they look good together. The skirt is also a thin polyester printed to look like a respectable tweed. The really great thing about it is that it is not shiny. I always think the shiny polyester makes costumes look cheap, so I am very happy that it isn't shiny. The hot pink petty coat that is attached to the skirt creates the illusion of layers of fluffy ruffles. It is only one layer, but the way they sewed it makes it look fuller. The little fingerless gloves are made of the same material as the skirt and trimmed in hot pink ruffles. The spats are a little snug on my legs, but the part that covers the shoe is a little loose. which I guess is good depending on the shoe you choose. I think I'm going to add some elastic to the bottom to keep it attached to my shoes. It would be embarrassing to have the spats flapping around as I walk. While I shared my concerns about this costume, keep in mind that it is an inexpensive costume. And I expected to get this kind of material when I paid for it. I would even say that it is better than most costumes in this price range. It is a complete costume as it has several pieces to it that make you look the part from head to toe... literally. I do love how this costume looks in real life. It does look like the picture. The only thing that disappointed me was the crumpled hat. Overall it is an adorable costume.

Tips for getting the right size

I was going back and forth between getting this costume in M or L for days before going with the Large. So, the purpose of this review is to help others make that decision. I am 5'6, 130#. The skirt: when pulled up to my belly button as a high rise, hits about 1 inch below my fingertips. When I let it sit at my hips, it hits about 5-6 inches below my fingertips. Plenty long enough for work/ school etc. The tulle provides enough poof, but not so much that you're exposing your bum, even when pulled up as a high-rise. It's an elastic waist and not tight around any part of my hips/waist; plenty of room The top: hits as a crop-top, just above my belly button. When the skirt is worn as a high-rise, the top only exposes skin when my arms are raised. The sleeves are a little long but nothing excessive. I have broad shoulders from swimming and the top is just loose enough around my shoulders to comfortably move my arms. If it wasn't for my shoulders, the M would have been my preferred choice. If you have slender arms and are my size, I would recommend going with the M for a smaller skirt and shorter jacket arms. The gloves fit with no issues. The hat was a little crumpled as others have mentioned, but nothing that can't be fixed with wetting/reshaping. The tie actually goes on with velco, and is not tied around the neck as I originally thought. It fit me fine, but something to keep in mind if you have a wider neck or might feel too constricted. Any tie/scarf could be used in place of the provided one and still look appropriate. Overall a very cute costume with plenty of options to tweak and make your own.

Looks cute!

Bought this for my 12yr old daughter the 7/9 Teen size. All pieces fit great, jacket a bit snug but thats ok. She will wear with her black leggings and we will try to fit a long-sleeved shirt underneath to help keep her warm this Halloween ????

Tolles kostüm! Ich war unsicher weil keine GrößenAngaben vorhanden waren. Ich bin 157cm groß und wiege 50kg, passt wie angegossen! Der Stoff der Rocks ist ein bißchen anders als auf dem Bild, sieht aber trotzdem toll aus.

Trotz der schnellen Lieferung extrem schlechte Qualität. Keins der verwendeten Materialien hat irgendwas gemeinsam mit dem abgebildeten Produkt. Die Handschuhe haben unterschiedliche Größen. Dafür leider wenige Sterne.
