came close

Installed this on a 1 inch rusty iron pipe that I cleaned the best I could but still had a leak. I cut a bicycle tube 6 inches long and placed it in the clamp, that stopped the leak.

Useful to keep in house

We only purchased this AFTER we had a water pipe leak. We now have it just in case for the future. It was recommended by our plumber to keep one on hand so at least you don't have to turn off the entire house plumbing to stop the leak.

the 3/4" clamp FITS a 3/4" galvanized pipe PERFECTLY

I bought both a 1/2" and 3/4" clamps to fix my leaking 3/4" galvanized pipe because of all the reviews here talking about the clamp being BIGGER ... well those reviews are simply .... WRONG ... the 3/4" fits the 3/4" galvanized pipe PERFECTLY & stopped the leak just like it is suppossed to.

Misleading sizes - WATCH OUT

I bought a 3/4 in clamp for a 3/4 pipe. Sounds like a good idea right? WRONG. If you close this clamp to its MAXIMUM, the clamp can BARELY grasp a 3/4 pipe. The only way to make it work is to wrap the 3/4 pipe with some rubber padding and hope that the clamp grabs it enough to stop a leak. The description should have read: The MINIMUM diameter this clamp will securely seal by itself is around a 7/8" diameter object. Material seems to be good quality stainless steel.
