I have a pantry/meal moth problem here in south Texas, so this review relates to this type of moth only and not any other kind of pest. I've tried other traps, including the type with pheromone pad that you manually place inside, to no avail. I thought this Black Flag trap was going to be another dud. The first one I put out didn't catch any moths, which surprised me, as I've had good luck with all the other Black Flag products I've used over the years. As my moths have been buzzing my head while I sit on my couch using the computer and/or watching TV in my living room, that's the room I selected for the first trap. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. I was prepared to put in a claim with Black Flag for a refund. I procrastinated and after about 2.5 weeks, the trap had a single moth inside. Since I had witnessed moths flying all around the trap but not going inside, I thought this may be a fluke. A couple days later, another couple moths were stuck, then another few within days, and now there are about 15-20 stuck in there. I was thinking the first unlucky moth got stuck by picking a random spot on which to set foot (it was right at the adhesive outer edge), and that the subsequent moths were simply attracted to the first moth instead of the trap bait. To test the fluke theory, I set the second trap inside a pantry, with door slightly open, because.. pantry moths. Nothing. Zilch. Nada... for the first few days. Then a single moth was stuck. Then nothing for days. So, I moved that trap to the hall, where there is no food of any kind anywhere nearby. A few days later, it started collecting more moths. This trap requires a lot of patience. If it hasn't caught anything for days or even a couple weeks, don't give up. Leave it out and you might eventually be as surprised as I was when it starts collecting moths. Evidently, even with moths flying closely around these traps, it still takes them a while to "find" it, after which it starts collecting them. I wonder whether this is some kind of delayed activation time after the protective film sheet is removed from the glue, perhaps designed to preserve it for increased shelf life? There's nothing on the box that says this is the case, so it's a mystery. Also, like real estate, location location location is key! I couldn't believe the open hall with zero food source is more effective than the pantry, because.. PANTRY MOTHS. I'm ordering more of these Black Flag traps to put in all kinds of places around here. Hopefully, they will collect moths faster than the moths are able to reproduce and will rid my home of these pests, because I can't find where they're coming from (their "nest")!
