Great lamp!

Love it! The shade was a lot taller than I ever imagined but it’s very cool! The whole thing, color of the lamp, Touch on & off and awesome white tall cylinder shade!

Three way doesn't work on new lamps

I ordered one of these a few years ago, and I really like it. They seemed to be out of production for a while, but when I saw they came available again, I jumped on it. Well, the three-way function doesn't seem to work on the new lamps. I contacted Adesso, who told me only using a 100 watt bulb (not a three way bulb) would make it work. That didn't help, so I ordered another lamp to replace the first. That one didn't work either. It's still a nice lamp if you don't want the three way function, but if you do, you'll be disappointed.

Sleek and functional

I have the lamp placed behind an end table so the table is clear for use. the base takes up virtually no space but it is sturdy and stable. You just touch the base to turn it on or off so it's very convenient to control! It's striking but not in an overwhelming way. It can take a 3-way bulb but I am using a standard bulb. Nice and bright. Arrived perfectly packaged. The shade is a true, crisp white. I read some other reviews and saw they thought it stopped working. When I unplugged it and moved it to another room, I thought the same thing. But I left it alone for a few minutes and I think it reset. It continues to work fine. Others have recommended unplugging it if you have to change the bulb so I will follow that advice. These quirky things should be called out in instructions. If they did that, I'm sure the overall rating would be higher. It's a beautiful lamp and I love it!

Lamp is shorter than expected and can't be used with a switched outlet or smart plug

The description of the lamp says 74", but it's only 69-3/4" from floor to the top of the shade. If you're looking for a very tall lamp, this one is only average. Also, if you unplug the lamp, it doesn't remember whether it was on or off when you reconnect it. That means it won't work with a switched outlet or a smart plug. Some touch lamps remember their last setting, but this one doesn't. Other than that, the finish is really nice, shade hangs straight, and it looks good (if a little shorter than I wanted).

You know those save-a-few-bucks purchases that make you look back and say "*This* is not something you skimp on?" This is that for me. Bought this in 2009 trying to save a buck. The shade is as dark as pictured, so, yes, it's rather dark. Insufficient to light a small living room (even by NYC standards) on its own. Also the touch on/ off mechanism or circuit failed after less than 2 years so I've been using the switch on the power strip to control it. You get what you pay for. Was so uninspired by this that I'm keeping away from Adesso for the other lighting fixtures I need. ********************************* Above originally posted early January, edited 2/12/14 I was a bit harsh on Adesso and should apologize. The light is dark, but it's not without uses. Still too dark to light a room on its own, out of a corner and in a relatively open space the lamp casts a nice ambient glow. Actually works kind of nicely in support of another light source. The touch switch is still broken, however; I've been using a slide dimmer which has been working nicely.

Great Lamp for a Small Space

I have it in a 14" square space and it fits. It only needs 8.5" of base clearance as long as it can overhang an object like my desk or a chair. Looks great. Nice shade material. Touch switch is excellent. Even touching metal on the bottom of the shade turns it on and off. Update 5/28/15 - Well, it was a five star until the touch switch died. To be fair the bulb shorted while I was replacing it and then no more touch switch. I now think you should unplug this lamp to change bulbs as it was cycling when the bulb shorted / blew. Now I have to unplug it to turn it off. Buying replacement touch switch which dimensions 2"x1.8"x.8" should barely fit in the touch switch housing under the light. Most touch lamps have touch switches located in base but it is on the top of this lamp. UPDATE 11/28/22: I found a replacement dimmer back then and managed to hack the wiring and get it to work for this much longer. But now it won't turn on at all. It was a slow death, taking about 3 months to die completely. Initial signs were it turning off by itself. At first I thought maybe the dog touched it off but too frequent and now completely dead. Not what I expected from a $165 lamp. I think I will give up on it now rather than replace the touch unit again.

Nice tall big lamp

I loved the lamp and everyone who saw it, but a day might of fact the next morning from putting the lamp together it no longer came on. got up the next morning from when I put it together tried to turn it on and nothing tried changing light bulbs 3 times nothing! So I sent it back and was given a full refund. But I will try ordering it again maybe I just received a defected lamp! it is very dim but I like mood setting lamps vs bright lights in my face when im relaxing, so if youre looking for bright this is not the lamp for you.

Great 3-way touch lamp!

I ordered this to match two table lamps I bought for my buffet. I read in a review to never change the light bulb while the unit is plugged in. I have followed this advice and have had no problems with any of my units. I use dimmable LED bulbs. It's a touch lamp with 3 levels of brightness, which makes it very versatile. Sometimes the electric charge from other parts of the house will trip it off (could seem spooky if you don't know what is happening), but it's rare. The chrome is a bit darker than a standard chrome, but it's still pretty.
