Fun to make

I have done a lot of Bucilla kits over the years, from stockings to tree skirts, but this was my first ornament kit. I enjoyed making the ornaments, they turned out really pretty, slightly on the large side ,so if you have a 6 foot and under tree, I would think these ornaments are kind of big.

Beautiful ornaments for anyone who loves the ocean!!!

As an experience felt ornament person, I am making this review for the first time Bucilla ornament crafter. The directions on this kit are difficult to follow. Use the picture to help you determine placement of your beads, sequins etc. if you make a mistake, regarding the place,Mets of pearl beads etc. on some ornaments like the starfish don’t worry it’s ok ... no one will notice. The hangers this kit tells you to make will not hold up... buy some cording for hangers. I sew therefore I have lots of stuffing however you can use cotton balls for your stuffing. These are time consuming. Each ornament is at least a 2 hour or more project. I would recommend this kit because the ornaments are unique and beautiful. I have finished five sets and I highly recommend you have a sharp pair of scissors!!!! Otherwise you are ripping the felt.

Beautiful Kit, but quality just isn’t what is used to be.

I made 4 out of the six thus far and I must say that the instructions are very vague. I have put many kits together over years and I didn’t have much difficulty figuring it out, but if your new you would be discourage. Also it seems the quantity of the material keep getting worse. Some felt colors are so thin they are almost transparent making it very difficult to appliqué them, the sequins are not cut very well scratched and faded, I don’t know if this kit contains enough beads to complete so I’ll have to pull from my stash. Once competed then ornaments are beautiful, but I think Plaid/Bucilla should work on their quality.

Lovely felt projects!!

Bucilla by far makes the best felt projects you can buy. The instructions are a little difficult if you’re a first timer. Once you get the hang of it you will love the quality! Do not be fooled though!! These take quite a long time to complete! They are tedious and detailed which of course results in a beautiful handmade item. They come with everything you need - we have extra embroidery thread and beads to add or embellish with but you don’t need to purchase anything additionally.

Beautiful but definitely for an advanced embroiderer, not for the faint hearted.

The end product is lovely and unique BUT I have created many detailed felt appliqué projects, and this one was very difficult to do. I have many children, grands and great grands and have tackled many complicated projects, but this was by far the most difficult. That said, I loved the end result enough that I ended up making three of them.

Great!

The first kit I received had been opened and didn't contain instructions, needles, or floss. I'm not sure how no one noticed that before shipping it? Amazon quickly replaced with a complete kit and it's great. A nice way to pass time and create something beautiful for someone special.
